Business Analyst - Subscription service

We’re looking for a Business Analyst who can help us launch a new subscription service internationally. You will be responsible for performing the product- and user research required to create new business value! 🚀

Full-time · Amsterdam

Who are we?

Founded in 2012 by two ambitious students in Tilburg (the Netherlands), Scribbr started as a Proofreading & Editing company with only one editor. Today, our team of more than 800 editors, citation and layout experts worldwide provides proofreading and editing in 10 different languages to help students achieve their academic goals.

Combining years of experience in academic writing with technical know-how, we have successfully expanded our service portfolio by electronic tools like the Plagiarism Checker, Citation Generator, Citation Checker and a public Knowledge Base, which is used by millions of students and educators every year.

We’re proud to be a trusted brand in EdTech and continue to strive to make students 100% happy.

About the job

You will join a new, to be formed multidisciplinary product team dedicated to launching a worldwide subscription service. This service offers students access to a curated set of technical study tools, and a global community of academic experts standing ready to provide whatever help students might need.

You will be responsible for performing research into user- and business needs, discovering business opportunities, and translating them into feasible solutions that will help improve the service. You will take ownership over gathering the insights you and your team need to make sure features are built in a smart and innovative way.

Furthermore, you will work together with a variety of internal stakeholders and play a liaison role between business and development. You will help the Product Manager with shaping the product roadmap and vision, write and pitch actionable user stories for developers and assist during user acceptance / QA testing.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to identify new business opportunities.
  • Conduct data analysis to gather relevant insights, make recommendations and support internal decision making.

  • Communicate insights and recommendations internally across the involved stakeholders.
  • Enable the development of smart, sophisticated technical features by performing research into how projects can be implemented in the best possible way.
  • Work closely together with the Product Manager to shape new, innovative product features which add value for our students.

About you

  • You have 0-2 years of experience in a business analysis, business development or product related role.
  • Affinity with business analysis, user research, concept- and product development.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with technology focus, such as computer science, information science, innovation management or related.
  • You live in the Netherlands and are able/willing to work from the office in Amsterdam the majority of the week (working from home from time to time is possible).
  • Can-do attitude and willingness to take ownership over making sure we create great products that answer real user needs.
  • Strong business mindset and always seeking for opportunities to improve the business.
  • Refined written and verbal communication skills in English (Dutch or German is a plus).
  • Some experience with agile workflows such as Scrum is a plus.
  • Start- or scale-up experience is a major plus.
