Community Manager (DE)

We’re looking for a German speaking Community Manager with a drive to keep our editor community engaged and happy!

Full-time · Amsterdam

Who are we?

Founded in 2012 by two ambitious students in Tilburg (the Netherlands), Scribbr started as a Proofreading & Editing company with only one editor. Today, our team of more than 800 editors, citation and layout experts worldwide provides proofreading and editing in 10 different languages to help students achieve their academic goals.

Combining years of experience in academic writing with technical know-how, we have successfully expanded our service portfolio by electronic tools like the Plagiarism Checker, Citation Generator, Citation Checker and a public Knowledge Base, which is used by millions of students and educators every year.

We’re proud to be a trusted brand in EdTech and continue to strive to make students 100% happy.

About the job

As our Community Manager, you are responsible for having an expert community that is engaged and motivated to work.  As part of our company values, our aim is to focus on 100% happiness and 100% openness. In this role, you will make sure that this also forms the basis of our editor community engagement. You will:

  • Ensure that our editors feel welcome from the moment they leave the Scribbr Academy and start editing - they should feel part of the Scribbr team, wherever they are on the world!
  • Monitor and increase the retention of editors by conducting surveys,  doing research, and launching initiatives for editor satisfaction
  • Improve the editor experience by continuously engaging with our editor team and making sure they are able to work as effectively as possible (working closely with our Quality Managers)
  • Engage with the editor community by coordinating the bi-weekly newsletter and creating original content for our blog ("Scribbroo") as well as sharing content across our social media channels
  • Organise events for our editors (both online and offline) such as our yearly Edithon in which different language experts share their tips and tricks about editing texts with other editors in our community

We offer you a community of over 600 editors as your playground to launch innovative initiatives that ultimately create a strong community and employer brand.

At the beginning you will focus on our German and Dutch editors, but ultimately you can become the community manager for editors from all languages as well as our specialists for Citation and Layout Editing. 🚀

About you

You are full of creative ideas - from content creation to event planning - and you are able to put them into motion independently. You enjoy working in a fast-pace, dynamic environment where you can continuously grow and develop yourself.

Additionally, you bring:
  • Bachelor degree or higher

  • Refined communications skills in English and German/Dutch - other languages are a plus
  • Tech-savvy and generally interested in the tech industry (Ideally you’ve worked with Asana, Slack, and GSuite)
  • A “getting things done” attitude and an open, creative mindset
  • The ability to juggle different tasks at the same time and to change priorities if needed
  • Experience with community/customer management, event planning, or content creation are a plus
  • The ability work both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience working as a freelancer and/or editor yourself would be greatly appreciated
