We’re looking for an experienced freelance conversion copywriter who can help us turn hundreds of thousands of visitors to into happy customers, using appealing and persuasive copy for our landing pages, ads, and checkout flows.

Founded in 2012 by two ambitious students in Tilburg (the Netherlands), Scribbr started as a Proofreading & Editing company with only one editor. Today, our team of more than 800 editors, citation and layout experts worldwide provides proofreading and editing in 10 different languages to help students achieve their academic goals.

Combining years of experience in academic writing with technical know-how, we have successfully expanded our service portfolio by electronic tools like the Plagiarism Checker, Citation Generator, Citation Checker and a public Knowledge Base, which is used by millions of students and educators every year.

About the job

We’re in the process of conducting extensive market and customer research to nail down our customer personas and our unique value proposition for the US market.

We need your help turning our findings into compelling landing pages that motivate visitors to buy our Proofreading & Editing and Plagiarism Checker services. This involves:

  • Using proven persuasion techniques to convert visitors into customers
  • Working together with the marketing team to understand and appeal to the target audience and their pains, gains, and needs
  • Writing scroll-stopping copy for our internal (Knowledge Base and Citation Generator) and external (Google Ads) advertisements
  • Optimizing copy in the checkout process to maximize conversions

If our collaboration works out well, there will be opportunities to expand your hours and responsibilities and play a key role in all copywriting projects.

About you

  • 5+ years of experience in digital copywriting

  • Of which 2+ years of working on conversion optimization

  • Available around 16 hours per week

  • Native-level English proficiency

  • Holder of a bachelor’s degree from a US university

  • Basic understanding of search engine optimization

  • Familiar with persuasion techniques like Cialdini’s principles of influence

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience in EdTech or academia is a plus
