We are a fast-growing international Edtech scale-up that provides writing tools and language editing services to students. Our mission is to help students graduate and to become the world's leading academic writing brand. With 10m+ in revenue, 40+ staff, lots of entrepreneurial energy and no shortage of plans for further growth, we are looking for a Head of People & Culture to complete the management team and to strengthen the backbone of Scribbr’s next growth phase.

Who are we?

Founded in 2012 by two ambitious students in Tilburg (the Netherlands), Scribbr started as a Proofreading & Editing company with only one editor. Today, our team of more than 800 editors, citation and layout experts worldwide provides proofreading and editing in 10 different languages to help students achieve their academic goals.

Combining years of experience in academic writing with technical know-how, we have successfully expanded our service portfolio by electronic tools like the Plagiarism Checker, Citation Generator, Citation Checker and a public Knowledge Base, which is used by millions of students and educators every year.

About the job

As the Head of People & Culture you know how to build teams that are driven by trust and empowerment.  With your vision you are able to create an HR strategy that enables people to grow. Culture eats strategy so you help us form and live a strong culture focused on purpose and growth. 

Main responsibilities of the role

  • You live and help form our DNA that builds on growth, quality, happiness, openness and fun
  • Build and lead a sustainable team that creates a strong culture and enables growth
  • Manage all aspects of HR (including recruitment, employer branding, onboarding, talent development, benefits, legal, offboarding etc.)
  • Create an HR strategy that enables growth of people and business
  • Build a strong recruitment function
  • Develop a strong employer brand that positions Scribbr as a first employer of choice
  • Support leaders in their own development and the development of teams
  • Advice leadership with your expertise
  • Lead by trust and empowerment
  • Create an HR roadmap that continuously improves the organization

About you

  • You have +10 years of work experience in HR

  • Experience in leading and building teams, ideally in a scale-up environment
  • Have a Master's degree in a relevant field
  • You get energy from a fast paced environment
  • Have broad HR knowledge
  • Enjoy working in an international team and have experience with managing international expansion
  • Have a proven track record in forming a strong company culture
  • Are proactive and take ownership to get the job done from start to finish
  • Are a people person with a hands-on mentality
  • Are independent, organized and structured; planning, agility and adaptability come naturally to you
  • Have a passion for technology, are tech savvy, and have a relentless drive to simplify and automate
  • Have excellent written and spoken English skills and Dutch and German is a plus
